Trek Overview

The spectacular view from Annapurna Base Camp a bowl surrounded by high white peaks in every direction makes this trek, without the view from Base Camp this trek is a 2 star trek at best.  The views approaching the Sanctuary are not that good since the path takes you through a narrow valley which blocks any expansive views.  Basically the view from Annapurana Base Camp is what this trek is all about the the rest is just a prelude and a postlude.  But what a view it is.  This trek can be done on its own or tacked on to the end of the Annapurna Circuit trek, though now that there is a road out from Jomsom it is far more commonly done on its own.  The view from Poon Hill (which is good but not as good as Sarangkot near Pokhara) can also be added to this trek or done on its own.  I personally don't think Poon Hill on its own is worth the trek but if you are looking for a relatively short trek that gives you a nice view but doesn't go too high its ok.
